»Geographical Play

TNI launched its UAE Blue Chip Fund (TNI BCF) in 2005; the fund is targeted at investors who seek exposure to the UAE market with a weekly liquidity. TNI brings even more value by being a 100% UAE owned firm which gives it access to some of the more restricted stocks to UAE nationals.

TNI UAE Blue Chip Fund

The TNI UAE Blue Chip Fund (BCF) is an open-ended investment fund established in the UAE as a collective investment scheme and is regulated by the UAE Central Bank. BCF focuses on investing in publicly traded shares of blue chips listed mainly in the UAE (and other GCC counties), on a purely opportunistic basis. The Fund has consistently outperformed its benchmark since its inception on both absolute as well as a risk-adjusted return basis. TNI BCF has proven in the downturn of the market its resilience to the major correction having a peak to valley of 39% (while its benchmark, the UAE MSCI Domestic index exceeded 54%). On the upside, again, TNI BCF outperformed the benchmark and maintained a volatility of 17.6% Vs an index volatility of 27.8%. The TNI BCF is the best performer in the UAE market against all its peers.
The fund seeks long-term capital appreciation through investments in:

  • UAE Blue Chips, which should account for at least 60% of total NAV in normal market conditions;
  • Other GCC traded equities which should not exceed 30% of the total NAV, and
  • IPOs and pre-IPO with a listing horizon within 18 months and which should not exceed 20% of total NAV.

»Sector Play

Our experience and analysis in regional markets has shown that the sector approach brings high diversification to our target investors; TNI started launching a series of sector specific funds targeting the MENA equity markets. This is a tool for investors to actively manage their regional sector exposure.

TNI MENA Real Estate Active Fund

The TNI MENA Real Estate Active Fund (MENA REAF) is an open-ended investment fund established in the UAE as a collective investment scheme and is regulated by the UAE Central Bank. It is a sector specific fund that invests in shares of real estate firms traded in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa stock exchanges). The Fund can also invest in private equity pre-IPO as well as fixed income securities issued by MENA Real Estate firms. TNI MENA REAF has consistently beaten regional sector agnostic equity funds while keeping a lower volatility (17% compared to MSCI Arabia Volatility of 25%); the fund is amongst the best performing MENA equity funds.

The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation through investments primarily in real estate equities listed in the MENA region with market caps in excess of USD 100 million. It allows up to 25% IPO and pre-IPO investing, and up to 20% in real estate fixed income issues.
The Fund provides bi-weekly liquidity and is open to foreign investors, hence representing a perfect vehicle for investors interested in the Real Estate play in the region.

TNI MEA Telecom Fund

TNI MEA Telecom Fund is an open-end offshore fund established in Bermuda. TNI MEA Telco invests mainly in publicly traded shares of MEA Telco's listed on regional exchanges. The sector provides a healthy combination of value and growth stories sometimes within the same company.

Our extensive research and back testing on the sector concluded that Telecom companies in MEA have a very low correlation among each other, and the sector has a very low volatility compared to the markets in general (Standard deviation of 12% compared to MSCI Arabia of 25%).
The Fund is an ideal tool for investors willing to benefit from exposure to the telecom industry in the MEA region. The fund offers a weekly liquidity.

TNI MENA Banking Fund

TNI MENA Banking Fund is an open-end offshore fund established in Bermuda. TNI MENA Banking Fund invests mainly in publicly traded shares of MENA banks listed on regional exchanges.

The Banking sector in the region still enjoys significant potential for growth due to the wide range of services and facilities it offers (such as mortgage lending, Islamic finance, etc.) to sheer organic growth in countries like Sudan and Morocco. Our back testing of the sector has shown an annualized return exceeding 20% in the last 2 years (a period that witnessed a downturn in most other sectors). The sector also offers low volatility (about 12% Vs the MSCI Arabia of 25%).
TNI will launch additional sector focused funds in the near future targeting the MENA region.
